MBR, also known as membrane bioreactor, the technology of it is a new water treatment technology that combines membrane separation units with biological treatment units. There are various types of membranes, such as reaction membranes, ion exchange membranes, and osmotic membranes, classified according to their separation mechanisms; natural membranes (biomembranes) and synthetic membranes (organic and inorganic membranes), classified according to the properties of the membrane; and flat, tubular, and hollow fiber membranes, classified according to the structural type of the membrane.
Replacing the traditional end two sedimentation tanks of biological treatment technology with flat membranes in the biological reactor to maintain a high concentration of active sludge, improve the organic load of biological treatment, reduce the area of wastewater treatment facilities, and reduce the amount of residual sludge by maintaining a low sludge load. The main use of the membrane separation equipment immersed in the aerobic biological pool to intercept the active sludge and macromolecules in the trough.
1. Hydraulic retention time and sludge age separation
MBR membrane technology can intercept all microorganisms in water, realize the separation of hydraulic retention time and sludge age, make the operation control more flexible, make it possible to extend the sludge age, which is beneficial to the growth and reproduction of slow-growing nitrifying bacteria and greatly improves denitrification efficiency. At the same time, because the system has a long sludge-age, the amount of residual sludge generated is small.
2. Water quality is higher than traditional biochemical processes
Membrane technology can not only intercept microorganisms in water but also intercept some macromolecular insoluble pollutants, prolong the residence time of pollutants in the reactor, increase the removal rate of refractory pollutants, and because of the long sludge age and good denitrification effect, plus the effluent basically does not contain SS, the effluent quality of MBR is better than that of traditional processes. Although the initial MBR membrane price can be higher than other technologies, it delivers significant savings in the long run, providing an affordable solution for wastewater treatment.
3. Can effectively reduce pollutant concentration
Different from adding water disinfectant powder, MBR membrane technology, as a biochemical treatment process, can convert organic matter into carbon dioxide and water, nitrogen pollutants into nitrogen, and can also reduce the conductivity of raw water, which greatly reduces the load of subsequent membrane treatment processes, prolongs membrane life, increases water production rate, and reduces concentrate concentration.
4. Small footprint
Due to the high interception rate of the flat sheet membrane system, the reactor can maintain a high concentration of sludge concentration, which is usually 3-5 times that of the traditional activated sludge method. The high sludge concentration makes the volume of the reactor much smaller than that of traditional processes, plus the efficient deep water aeration form, and the area of the biochemical part is much smaller than that of traditional processes. The process has low residual sludge production, reducing the cost of sludge treatment. It is easy to operate and easy to achieve automatic control.
